SAFE-N-SANE FIREWORKS GO ON SALE JUNE 28, 2006

Valley firefighters and non-profit organizations are gearing up for one of the busiest weeks of the year, the week preceding the Fourth of July holiday. Safe-N-Sane fireworks will be approved for sale by non-profit organizations Wednesday, June 28 until 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2006. Because of the unusual amount of vegetation this year and the high fire danger, fire officials are urging the public to use EXTREME caution when using fireworks and follow some simple safety rules.

PEOPLE WHO CAUSE DAMAGE WITH FIREWORKS MAY BE
RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAYMENT

If a person is playing with fireworks and causes damage to someone else's property, they may be responsible for paying for that damage according to insurance agents. In addition, if the fireworks are illegal, that person could be fined or even jailed. Fire officials urge the public to practice extreme caution when playing with fireworks on the Fourth of July. The dry conditions and unusually high amount of vegetation make it one of the most hazardous conditions seen here in Southern Nevada in several years.
