Ed joined the Clark County Fire Department in 2008 after serving a wide range of clientele as a consulting
engineer for twenty years. More recently, he worked in the hospitality and gaming industries nationally and
internationally. Projects in industry were for warehousing, chemical recyclers and nuclear power generation.
Before entering fire protection engineering consulting, Ed was a test engineer in the suppression section at
Underwriters Laboratories, Inc.
Ed is a principal on the NFPA Pyrotechnics Technical Committee and was the Chair of the Wet and Dry Chemical
Extinguishing Systems Technical Committee, NFPA 17 and 17A, for ten years. He’s still a principal on the
committee. He was also chair of the Exposure Fire Protection Committee, NFPA 80A and was on the Hand Portable
Extinguisher Technical Committee, NFPA 10.
He is a registered professional engineer in Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Illinois and Indiana with a BS in Fire Protection and
Safety Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology and a Masters of Engineering Management from
Northwestern University.
Ed is Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 28 in Las Vegas and is active in Toastmasters International.
