September 23, 2006: For the third year in a row, the Fire Prevention Association of Nevada annual golf tournament was played under perfect weather conditions in southern Nevada at the Silverstone Golf Course. This year's sold out event had 188 players trying their best to win the prestigious 1st place tournament trophy. Players not only had the great weather helping them make their shots but also had an incentive with the chance to win a BMW Z4 Roadster, Mercedes Benz C-series sedan, or a Ford F-150 Lariat 4X4 Pickup on the (3) hole-in-one contests. 

With close to $11,000 value of prizes, the 2000 pre-printed raffle tickets sold out before the banquet and another roll of tickets had to be quickly rounded up to give everyone the opportunity to purchase tickets and participate in the raffle. This year's event, the major fundraiser for the Association, generated just under $17,000. All monies raised from this event goes directly to the funding of the Association's Youth Firesetter Intervention Program, NFPA Risk Watch Injury Prevention Program, Sesame Street Fire Safety Program and the Fireworks Safety Program. 

With the Association's expansion last year to a statewide organization, the success of this event will allow the Association to meet the organization's commitment to its members and the citizens of the State of Nevada. Plans are now in place to expand this fundraising event to add a second tournament in Northern Nevada sometime in the spring.
