SNFCC Code Interpretation Procedures

Please review the Interpretation Procedures before submitting any forms

Any facility owner, designer, contractor, local authority, or other interested party, may request a written interpretation of the Southern Nevada Fire Code or associated Amendments. Interpretations rendered will only be valid for the specific code cycle that is adopted at the time
of request. Such requests will not be used as an “Appeal” or “Alternate Means and Methods” for a specific project or waive any plan review authority by the local Fire Code Officials.
Questions shall be submitted on the official form on the FPAN website.
No verbal interpretations will be provided by the committee.
Each month (if needed) the SNFCC will meet to discuss code questions
that have been submitted for interpretation. If at that time a consensus decision can be determined, said interpretation will be documented and forwarded on to all Fire Marshals for consideration.
If additional research is required before a consensus interpretation can
be rendered, the item will be assigned to staff for research and will be discussed at the following month's meeting.
Once a consensus interpretation of the requested item has been reached, the item will forwarded on to the Southern Nevada Fire Marshals for consideration. If approved, the interpretation will be logged, and the submitter will be notified of the determination via email and U.S. Postal mail. Said interpretation will also be posted on the FPAN website.
